Under 16's

Welcome to Rotherham Clifton's Under 16's web page. Team Coaches John Hartley Glyn Parker Tony Rudkin Last season was very much a tail of two halves for the then under 14's team, in the first half we were in a transitional stage bringing in a number of new players. Some of these players had never played rugby before but were very willing to learn and although we had some tough early games against the likes of Doncaster and Sheffield kept coming and developing, as we slowly but surely forged a team and a squad. Christmas, or just before to be precise, proved the turning point and the team went on to play another 14 games, losing only three and winning the rest. Two of those defeats were by the smallest of margins against Doncaster and Barnsley in what were two cracking games of Rugby. The season ended in fine style when we went on tour to Blackpool in April, and played both Blackpool and Fleetwood over the weekend. Both games could not have been scripted any better, coming from behind to draw with Blackpool on the Saturday, and coming from behind on the Sunday to beat Fleetwood by one point. We are also lucky that we have such tremendous support from the parents, 71 of us went to Blackpool of which 25 were players. Our support both home and away throughout the season is second to none. This season we are looking to kick on and try to maintain the form that we showed throughout the second half of the season and on the tour. We are playing a number of teams that we have never faced before which brings new challenges and new places to visit. We are always looking for new players to add to the squad so if you are 14 or 15 and fancy giving rugby a go come down and join us at a training session. Our under 15 squad currently trains on Thursday evenings at 7:00pm at Rosehill School Sports hall and also on a Sunday at 10:00 am at herringthorpe if we have no fixture.
